New Puppy Help

You will want your puppy to be a good citizen and get along well with the family and other dogs in the house.  It is important to start developing their retrieving instincts but remember to limit the number off retrieves to only 4-5 per day.  Teach your pup his or her name soon and some basic commands including 'here, heel, sit, down and kennel'.  Take plenty of pictures because they will only be little for a short time.  Don't rush them thru this stage of their lives, let them be pups.  Listed below are some resources for helping you start with your pup if you are new to the retriever game.

If you have questions about your new pups development please contact us and we'll steer you in the right direction.  There are many options and programs for their hunting dog training but that will come after their puppy months.  Remember this, everyone was new at this game at one time or another.  Enjoy the journey with your new little buddy and welcome to Monterey Bay Hunting Retriever Club.
